Mercedes Marketplace is a new online platform for the sale and purchase of used cars.

Mercedes-Benz India has just launched a new online platform, called Marketplace, which deals with the buying and selling of used cars. Mercedes says it is a “customer-to-customer” platform that aims to increase transparency and create a hassle-free experience for customers who buy or sell used cars.

  • Allows Mercedes owners to sell their cars
  • Buyers get a greater choice of used cars
  • Mercedes makes it easier to sell and buy used cars

Mercedes-Benz Marketplace: what is it?

Marketplace is Mercedes’ latest online platform that aims to make it easier to sell and buy used vehicles. Rely on the existing brand digital store and a certified pre-owned collection, Marketplace now allows customers to sell their pre-owned vehicles directly. Customers can even register offline on Marketplace by visiting their local Mercedes dealers.

Used car buyers benefit from Marketplace in terms of choice and variety, as Mercedes has a much larger used car inventory here.

Mercedes-Benz Marketplace: How Does It Work?

For Mercedes owners who wish to sell their used cars on the Marketplace, all they have to do is choose between the “Sell your car” tab – which is only used to sell the car – and the “Trade-in” tab – which is intended for sale the car and upgrade to a new Mercedes. Once the tab has been selected, all they need to do is fill in the relevant details of their vehicle. From there, Mercedes takes care of appraising the car, finding potential buyers, organizing test drives, and even finalizing transactions between buyer and seller.

Used car buyers benefit from the fact that Mercedes will evaluate the car and make it easier to purchase it, which includes organizing the paperwork and the transaction, making the process less cumbersome and simpler.

The impact of the marketplace on the used car business of Mercedes

Mercedes says the online penetration of its used car business is 20% and that with the introduction of Marketplace, the automaker expects it to grow to 30%. The automaker also says its franchise partners will benefit from the new platform, with a potential growth opportunity for new cars (through a trade-in) and used cars.
