Karnataka Government Offers Online Platform to Women’s SHG Products by Partnering with Amazon, Flipkart – The New Indian Express

BENGALURU: Amid global demand for indigenous, eco-friendly, sustainable, GI-labeled handicrafts, the National Livelihood Mission (NLM) of Karnataka has expanded marketing opportunities for Self-Help Group (SHG) products for women by providing an online platform for by partnering with Amazon and Flipkart.

The NLM has already provided a platform for 70 SHG products on Amazon and 50 SHG products on Flipkart and is helping SHGs reach domestic buyers through this, according to its Mission Director in Karnataka, Manjushree N.

She said the NLM has signed a memorandum of understanding with a startup “Kulturestreet”, which provides an international marketing platform for 15 SHG products in the state.

Manjushree N also said that through “Lokos” app, they are connecting all 50,000 SHGs in Karnataka and digitizing their entire transaction from Zilla Panchayat to SHG federation to SHG members to monitor money flows.

Additionally, for the first time after the onset of the pandemic, the NLM, which falls under the state department of “Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood Development for Women’s Economic Empowerment,” provides a huge marketing platform to over 700 women entrepreneurs from 310 SHGs from all over the world. countries (including 150 from the state), which have been affected by the pandemic, by organizing a ten-day nationwide exhibition “Sanjeevini Saras Mela 2022”, at the grounds of the National College, Bengaluru, which kicked off on Friday.

Women entrepreneurs showcase their skills, exhibiting and selling handicrafts at 310 stalls. The mela provides a platform to expand its markets, as it organizes CSR roundtables with companies, buyer meetings, startups and NGO conclaves to reach new buyers. The mela also offers female participants the opportunity to improve their skills by organizing workshops led by female entrepreneurs. NLM plans to hold more such expos every month in all districts and taluks of the state, to provide a platform to market SHG women’s products and empower and promote SHG women.
